Wet N Wild Color Icon Eyeliner Pencil/Blusher Swatches & Review

Last weekend I picked up 4 Wet & Wild Color Icon eyeliner pencils & 2 Blushers.

Rich, creamy color glides on smoothly without tugging. Incredibly versatile to create a variety of looks.

PRICE:

Each pencil is $.99 for .04 oz...enough said lol

RESULT:

I will say that application does go on very smooth, as the website describes these pencils. Rich color, not so much. Since I was pleasantly surprised at the color pay off from the W&W shadow palettes I thought these pencils would be just as good. Unfortunately they turned out to be more sheer than I would have liked. And as a liner, it wore off quite easily.

OVERALL PRO/CON:

I am a little disappointed, but for $.99 it's all good. I'll try them as a base for something else. Repurpose!

I was surprised with the pigmentation of these blushes. They have a good color pay off with not that much product, which is great. And they seem to last very well through the day. I think Mellow Wine is my new fav.

Bought some newness to share :)

I'm not really into all the vampire things going on out there, buuuut I wont lie... I love TrueBlood. I'm not sure what it is about that show, but I love it. Side note: Lafayette the gay restaurant cook is my fav! He is the most amazing character ever.

One of his best lines:

Aaanyway, I picked up the Tarte of TrueBlood palette. It is $52. For that price you get 17 2g shadows, a travel eye primer, travel mascara, and full size emphasEYES aqua gel liner.

The price isn't cheap, but considering the Tarte website sells single 1.75g refills pans for $17 and the aqua gel liners for $18, it's a good deal.

During my trip to Premiere Orlando beauty show, my main goal was to go to the Inglot booth & Cheeky Monkey Cosmetics. By chance, Cheeky Monkey was the first booth I stopped at...

Now I had done some research ahead of time, & based on the website alone I couldn't wait to get to the booth.

At www.cheekymonkeycosmetics.com they have a great site. There are no stuffy introductions, and pretentious descriptions about what polish shade is in right now. Not here! I decided to jazz up my nails & try a half moon manicure..It took a solid 35 min btw. I used a very thin detail brush to create the moon. With my left hand, it was quite a challenge lol.

This past weekend was the Premiere Orlando International Beauty Event. Its the "hair show" if you have any hairstylist friends. But there are hundreds of company booths from all kinds of hair products(shampoo, conditioner, dryers, irons, clippers etc..) to nail supplies, hair feathers, makeup. Pretty much anythin you could think of thats beauty related.

So during the NYX anniversary sale, among my goods, I bought the new Matte Lip Creams.

RESULT:

These lip creams go on pretty smooth, and I really like the end finish. I wouldn't describe them as moisturizing like the description says, but my lips didn't feel dry either. After letting Monte Carlo dry for a bit, I tested its rub- off factor.

I gave my hand a big juicy kiss lol. You can see the lip print, a little. I was impressed considering it's a red shade.

GrandeLashMD Review Month 2

So I wanted to update you on my lash growing quest with GrandeLashMD. Last time I posted I had noticed some increase in thickness, but length increase had been minimal. With month 2 at an end, my lashes have definitely gotten longer!

So all of my girlfriends keep commenting on how long my lashes have gotten, which is awesome, but they did exactly what I thought they would...They are curling back towards my eyelids lol! Of course, I did not think they were going to magically get straight, although some random strands are.

What's funny, is that the lashes at the corners of my eyes grew out of control. When I put mascara on them, I looked ridiculous, so I actually had to trim them HA! But it was just like 2 long wispies in the corners. it looked like I put individuals there. oooooh boy.

Overall, I am very happy with the results. If you have straight lashes, the results would be a lot more noticeable. But, like I said, I'm happy with it.

I def reccomend!

A few of my really good friends are hair stylists & they go to the Premier Hair Show every year, & last year one of them got some lash stuff to make them grow. I thought nothing of it since there are a million lash growing products out there. Fast forward to a few months later, she shows up to work one day & I noticed her lashes were crazy long. Of course it didnt happen overnight, but it seemed like she showed up & her lashes were like BOOOOOM here we are, be jealous.....and I was. So I ordered some.

Like an ass, I deleted my "before" pictures. But there are a million pictures of my eyes around this joint.

After about 4 weeks:

Side note: I have always hated my lashes for how curly they are, so hopefully they dont get long & curl back into my eyelids. LOL

I applied morning & night for the first 4 weeks. & only to top lashes.

At this point, I noticed that there wasnt a length increase but a thickness increase & then someone else noticed it too... SA-WEEEET!

CON:

I did notice a little sensitivity when I rubbed my eyes, but my girlfriend said she had none. So it varies from person to person.

The average woman waits at least two-and-a-half months in a relationship before revealing her face without the mask.
(That seems like a long time to me)

What’s your beauty philosophy?

For me, beauty is about a natural-looking woman who wears makeup, but wears it so cleverly that it doesn‟t actually show. She‟s also somebody who carries herself with a lot of confidence, not just someone who‟s pretty, but who also has a lot of character. For me…that defines beauty.

Who have been your creative influences throughout your makeup artistry career?

I began my makeup career thanks to Indian Bollywood star and Sixties Item girl, Helen. I also used to look at Linda Evangelista’s pictures in the Seventies and Eighties and be utterly inspired by her beauty. Linda, Christy Turlington, Paulina Poritzcova- they were the models who really inspired us because all we really got to see were advertising campaigns in the very few foreign magazines that were available to us.

You’ve said that the ‘no makeup’ look requires more effort than a full-on makeup look… how come?

The “no makeup” look in India is about using everything you need to use but making it look like nothing! That’s the reason it’s so much more difficult, because your blending has to be perfect, the contouring need to be perfect, you‟ve got to be able make an exact match to the colour of the skin tone…it‟s very, very difficult. But the products and tools in this collection all work together to make achieving this look so much easier.

I love this answer, bc how many of us love the "not really natural-natural" look??

What was your inspiration for this collection?

My USP is skin. I am one of those makeup artists who focuses a lot more on the complexion and contouring rather than just colour, so I wanted to split the collection into two parts: “Face” for creating the perfect skin and “Colour” to add definition. The inspiration for this collection really came from what I felt Indian women needed. Pigmentation and discoloration problems around the mouth and under the eyes is something that most people in India have a problem with, so creating the concealers was really important to me. They really work to address these issues on any olive-based complexions and outside of India they’ll also work beautifully on Hispanic, Mediterranean and Middle-Eastern skins, which can also have similar issues with pigmentation. Because creating beautiful skin is always my priority as a makeup artist, I wanted to focus on that, as well as developing the best colours to accentuate it with.

How do you cope with the challenge of working in the excessive heat in India? It must be hard on you…and the makeup!

It‟s a huge challenge to work in the heat. For years the majority of film studios in India weren’t air-conditioned, and even some today. If you were working outdoors, it was sometimes a nightmare as you could be working in conditions that would dry the skin and also melt the makeup. That’s why I’m so happy with the textures we created in this collection as they really do stand up to the heat with great staying-power and don’t look heavy on the skin

Will these products work on everyone, not only Indian skin tones?

Absolutely. These colours will work on almost everyone, not just Indian women, but particularly Hispanic, darker Mediterranean and Middle Eastern skin tones, too. Of course you can play with the shades and use them differently whether you‟re a makeup artist or a customer, but everyone will love them I’m sure!

What are your star products in the collection?

The Select Moisturecover double-ended corrector is my star product. In terms of the colour, the Athma eye shadow quad is something I’ll use all the time, and I also really love the Lipglasses. I’ve finished almost all the final product testers that I have – especially the lipsticks and Lipglasses, which I‟m using on a daily basis. I couldn’t be happier with the products that M·A·C has created for me. They’re all perfect.

I picked up a couple new things a few weeks ago.

1. Stila smudge stick waterproof eye liner in Stingray

2. Maybeline DreamMousse Concealer in Latte.

I always love to try new black eyeliners, even though UD 24/7 will always have a place in my heart, someone new may have the top spot.

I loooove this eyeliner. Its super smooth going on, it has good staying power & its blacker than blackest black..which I love. It's $20, which isn't too bad considering it has def become my new favorite.

As for the concealer, i can admit that I have never worn any type in my life because i dont like feeling like I have a face full of makeup on. So at the suggestion of a friend, I tried the Maybelline DreamMousse line. I love it. The lightness is the best. The whipped texture doesnt make me feel like im caking crap on my face. i cant remember how much it was...probably $5-$8. But you just have to be careful not to leave the lid off ofr an extended period of time, because it will dry up. Overall: Love it.

1. A Frugal Foundation Trick

Natalie DeStefano, makeup artist at the Rita Hazan Salon in NYC, recommends wetting your makeup sponge slightly before you dip it into your foundation. The dampness will cause the sponge to absorb less product, thus leaving more in the bottle.

2. Squeeze More Swipes

Get a few more uses out of an almost-gone mascara by standing it in a glass of warm water or heating it up with a hair dryer.

3. Save Your Mascara Wand

Wash it thoroughly and use it to tame unruly eyebrow hairs or to separate and de-clump lashes. Oftentimes, great mascara application comes from the brush. If you aren't too keen on a newly purchased formula, use the wand from your tried-and-true to see if it makes a difference.

4. Use a Lip Brush

So while out shopping with my mother the other day, I finaly got a chance to stop into The Cosmetic Company Store. According to their website, they have sort of limited locations, but there are actually 2 in my area w00t!

The location I went to was rather small, & had some good deals. i picked up a few MAC things. They carry some discontinued & older collections. I saw some things from the warrior one, style warrior beauty warrior, I cant remember. They had the artsy one with Mairas Mood. And I was surprised to see some Liberty of London things since that was fairly recent. But the way MAC is rolling out the collections these days, I guess thats considered old.

Wow. Ive been MIA for a minute. I'll keep it real, since we're fam & all. ive been in a beauty rut, I havent really been doing any interesting looks or buying anything, & Im really unhappy with the way I look right now, so I dont feel like photographing myself....

But I'm going to try to get back in it. So here it goes...

Yesterday i went to Ulta because I needed some new eyeliner, & I wanted to try something new so i picked up Tarte Cosmetics EmphasEYES Natural High Definition Inner Rim Eyeliner Pencil

The description reads:

This ultra fine liner easily fills gaps in the lashline and glides perfectly on the inner rims of eyes. Our patented silicone system creates a super creamy, long-wearing formula specifically designed for the sensitive inner rim so it won’t fade or run and its dermatologist tested, so it won’t irritate the sensitive eye area like traditional wood pencils.

The pencil was $18, which isnt bad. But I did return it today. The description describes it as creamy, but it did not go on my waterline so easy. I had to apply over & over to get it to show up, and it was not nearly as pigmented as the before & after picture above. I put it on and it faded & smudged my under-eye within an hour or so.

I like how small the tip is for precision sake, but i dont want to have to work so hard to get my eyeliner to show up. Maybe my waterline is extra...moist or something LOL. But unfortunately I did return it & go with my old standby UD 24/7 in zero.

Let me know if you've tried this Tarte liner, and how you feel about it.

Eyeliner Review

At the reccomendation of the girl in Sephora, I picked up Stila waterproof stay allday eyeliner.

According to Stila:

This easy-glide, quick-dry precision liner stays in place until you say when—no smudges, feathering, or running. The thin, marker-like tip is easy to use, even for the beauty beginner, and delivers any look (from a thin line to a bold, dramatic stroke!). It goes on smoothly without skipping, smudging, or pulling, and lasts all day!

Review:

I love it. The pointy applicator is great, it allows for alot of control, like a magic marker. When it dries, it has a little shine to the finish. Yea it's actually dry in this picture.

So on to the waterproof test, Sorry to gross you out but I licked my finger & rubbed back & forth a couple times. No movement at all. Love it. You can see my spit, sorry, LOL.

Now in this picture I was just determined. I rubbed my hand with a force that you would NEVER EVER rub your eye with, unless you were actually trying to take your corneas off.

Now I am super picky about liquid liners because sometimes you'll get one where all the liquid comes gushing out of the tip & you have a mess. Or none comes out & you end up scratching the hell out of your eyelid. But this one flowed very nicely. Im very happy with it.

Price:

At Sephora you can pick up this liner for $20, which I didnt really think was too bad. This is my first Stila product, so i cant really say if their products tend to be or expensive or not. But all in all, I think this liner is totally worth $20!

Primer Review/Comparison

Last week or so I finally got around to replacing my Smashbox Foundation Primer. And with my points from Sephora I chose their primer, just to try it.

Here they both are on the back of my hand:

Left: Smashbox PhotoFinish

Right: Sephora Smoothing Primer

Right away you can tell the difference in consistency between the 2 products. Smashbox has more of a whipped texture while Sephora's is far more liquidy. My hand is vertical to take the picture, so you can see Sephora's is kind of sliding down my hand a bit.

According to Sephora's website:

It improves foundation application while minimizing skin imperfections. Makeup lasts longer and skin is left velvety smooth with a matte finish. What else you need to know: Glide this wonder gel over skin before applying foundation to matify, smooth, perfect, and prep your skin for the a perfect foundation application. It can be mixed with a liquid foundation for a lighter coverage and to create an even skintone. Ideal for combination-oily skin types

Review:

I like it. I dont love it, but I do like it. Im not a fan of the more liquid like texture. It did make my skin feel smooth, but the feeling seemed to wear of after a little time. But it did keep my foundation & powder in place, & make my skin more matte so in essence it did its job.

I am very much a texture/consistency oriented person in all aspect of my life, so I prefer the Smashbox only because of the whipped texture & the way it makes my skin feel.

Price:

The Smashbox Primer is $36 for a 1oz bottle or $49 for the 2oz bottle. The Sephora brand is a good alternative at only $15....BUT that $15 only gets you an .05oz bottle. So really that $15 isn't giving you much.

Minx Manicures At Home

By now, we have all seen the Minx manicure, all kinds of crazy designs that require Da Vinci like skill to do with polish. Celebs love them..Everyone from Rhianna, Beyonce, Eve, to Blake Lively

But normally a Minx Mani rums about $40-$45 & a pedi around $80. For most of us who would not pay that much, OPI has come out with home Minx decals called Chic Prints. They have a few different designs.

Personally, I love the anchors & the lace. But I dont think I would wear them all at the same time. the best part about these is they are only $15...hello affordable. You rub them between your fingers to warm them up, apply & trim.

I have yet to try them, though I eye them when I go to Sephora. I hesitate only because I have acrylics & im not sure how they would fare on non natural nails.

Have any of you ladies tried them? If so let me know, I would like to see them on some real world beauties!!

Quick look before I run off to work...

My brows look ridiculous, i hadnt replaced my brow pencil yet, so theyre nonsense lol.

My face is red because I had spent the whole day at the beach in the blazing sun, so i have a nice red nose & cheeks lol.

I used:

MAC Bright Future (inner corner)

MAC Amber Lights (rest of lid)

MAC Expensive Pink (over Amber Lights)

MAC Golden Yellow Pigment (lower lash line)

Oh & tomorrow I have a hair appointment & this is what I'm doing...

I want to go a little lighter for summer, but I want to keep my black at the same time...LOVE IT.

Helllo ladies!!

I know ive been MIA for a hot minute, its a combo of being busy & a slacker. But im back in business!

I came across this story & thought it was hysterical.

This woman is suing her former employer. She claims they fired her because her beauty was "too distracting". Shes described as " J.Lo curves meets Jessica Simpson rack meets Audrey Hepburn elegance" ( im not sure who came up with that desciption) She wasnt allowed to wear turtle necks, pencil skirts, high heels, or fitted pants suits because of her curvy shape. Her beauty caused issues for her male colleagues, becasue they have trouble staying on task.

No I am the first person to give praise fro a beautiful woman when its due, and im not saying she isnt pretty, but to you think shes to hot for her job???

So I couldn't stand the green for another day..> I had changed the color to the OPI Whats With the Cattitude. which is also from the Shrek collection, its a really pretty baby blue...unfortunately I forgot to take a picture.

But that is gone & I have moved on. This is OPI Rumple's Wiggin'. Its a very pretty light lilac.

Now let me say that I do like the color, but I dont think i will keep it for very long. Im a brights type of girl.

And you just look at this sleepy baby boyyyyyy....ohhh I just want to eat his little face, he just too cute.

The lipstick Made to order is from the Pret-A-Papier collection, which originally I was less than impressed with when I saw it on the website. But in the store I fell in love with this lipstick immediately.

I also got another eyeliner in lime green, but with this new puppy around, things tend to disappear when Im not looking. So when I find it, I'll put it up lol.

Everyone seems to have a certain way they want you to be- your mother, father, teachers, religious leaders,politicians, boyfriends, fashion gurus, celebrities, girlfriends. In reporting my new book, I learned a very disturbing statistic: 74% of young women say they are under pressure to please everyone.

I have done alot of thinking about what it means to please; to be the wish or will of somebody other than yourself. To please fashion setters, we starve ourselves. To please men, we may push ourselves when we arent ready. To please our parents, we become insane over-achievers. If you are trying to please, how do you take responsibility for your own needs? When I was your age, I didint know how to live as an emotional creature. I felt like an alien. I still do a lot of the time. I am older now. A Look, My March Obsessions, and the new love of my life.

Here is a look from the other day. I wanted to use color, but I wasnt feeling something crazy.

The shadow isMAC Woodwinked all over the lid and MUFE #92 blended lightly into the crease. Lips are MAC Pink Nuveau ( i love this lipstic bc you can make it vibrant or understated depending on how much you layer it. Loves it)

On to my March Favs....

L to R:

1. Pureology SuperSmooth Smoothing Cream

The purpose of this cream is to "control frizz & unruly volume while intensifying natural shine & protecting color"....I love it. It def does make my hair smoother during my blowdry, although I do mix it with a bit of my No Frizz cream too. But the texture is very light, more like a whipped feel to it, so your hair doesnt feel weighed down. & it smells sooooooooo good. Pureology also makes a product similar to this in a gel form for those ladies who think this one is too light. so take your pick :)...only downfall: Pureology anit exactly cheap.

2. Maybelline Shiny-licious #80 Cola Float

I have had this gloss FOREVER. And when I bought it, I wore itfor a bit & threw it in the box with all my other crap. But as of recent I have been wearing it every single day. Its smooth and smells good, and can be layered over almost any pink lipstick.

3. Kenra Platinum Hot Spray

I got this Protective heat spray at Ulta. I think it was $10. I cant remember. But I was really on the hunt for a new spray to use while I flat iron. I was using Redken Fabricate, but I was bored of it. So this spray by Kenra was suggested to me by one of the hairstylist at Ulta, and I love it. I'll Keep it real with you guys bc we're fam (lol). This spray can be a bit sticky, and usually I hate that, but once I comb the section I just flat ironed, my hair looks & feels amazing...And it had a weird effect on boys. Anytime im around my boyfriend or his friends, they constantly are telling me how good my hair smells lol. They say it smells like strawberries. i dont think it smells like strawberries, but this spray def has a fruit smell that I cant describe.

4. Rimmel Glam'Eyes

I love this mascara bc I have really curly eyelashes naturally & regular mascara wands dont coat my lashes really well on the first few swipes. The wand on this mascara has the smalles little combs that really get into all my lashes, so it gets an A....anyone else have curly lashes that give you trouble??

And last but not least...

For the last 2 years I have been wanting a mini yorkie..without the general $1200 price tag. I have looked high & low. And it could'n't be just any dog, he had to look like he could fit the name I had picked out forever ago as well as the personality I imagined he would have. So the other day my mom surprised my with a puppy. He isnt a yorkie, but he most def fits the name I had picked out for him. So I introduce the new love of my life......

He is everything I wanted. He is fiesty, hilarious, smart, and oh so sweet...he is 11 weeks and less than 1lb. i cant get enough of his little face! I swooon for him. & he has no teeth in the front so he gnaws on everything bc hes teething, especially earlobes. LOVE HIM!

Rihanna is one of my favs..Hands down, no questions asked. I dont care what anyone has to say about her, I love her from top to bottom...Now dont get it twisted, some days i'm not really sure where her mind is at in terms of her fashion choices, but i can throw her a side-eye and still maintain my love for her LOL...

I LOVE THE HAIR....I love the mix of light & dark hair colors, when done correctly, of course. The front bang is what I want, but with black instead of that deep chocolate. The only problem is, trying to bleach through the black that I already have would take foooorever, and need more than one session, and very damaging...But i want it sooo bad lol
